Article69(3) of the Constitution provides for mandatory referendum.

Article59 of the Constitution provides for recall of members of Parliament.

Referendum Act 1984, Referendum (Amendment) Act 1992, Electionof Beretitenti Act 1980 and Elections Ordinance 1977 provide the legal basis for theadministrative requirements for referendums.

Election of Beretitenti Act 1980 and Elections Ordinance 1977provides the legal basis for the administration requirements for recall.

Article 11A of the Local Government Act 1984, as introduced by theArticle 3 of the Local Government Amendment Act 1987, provides for ?Vacation ofSeat after Petition and Referendum? of local government councillors.
