52.—(1) A candidate or an agent of a candidatepresent at the counting of the votes in a constituency may, at the conclusionof any count, request the local returning officer to re-examine and recount allor any of the ballot papers dealt with during that count and the localreturning officer shall re-examine and recount such papers accordingly withoutmaking any alterations in the arrangement of the papers in the various parcels,save where such alterations may be necessary in consequence of an errordiscovered in the recount. Nothing in this subsection shall make it obligatoryon the local returning officer to re-examine or recount the same parcel ofpapers more than once.

57. (6) An application to present a petition maybe made by any of the following:

(a) the Director of Public Prosecutions,

(b) a person who was a candidate at theelection concerned, or

(c) the election agent ofa candidate at the election.
