The Technical Secretariat of Electoral Administration (STAE) is a governmental body, responsible for administering elections and referenda.  

 

The National Electoral Commission (CNE) is an independent body responsible for supervising STAE?s administration of electoral laws, electoral regulations and referenda regulations.

Article5.

The purpose of the STAE shall be to ensurethe organization and execution of electoral

procedures, referenda and the electoralregister, together with the support, consultation

and distribution of studies and other data inthe electoral domain.

Decisions madeand procedures undertaken by STAE relating to operations of voter registration,elections and referenda shall be supervised by CNE.
