Subject to anyprocedure established by law, the mandate of a member of a District Assemblymay be revoked by the electorate or the appointing body.

Article 9. Revocation of mandate of member
(1) In accordance with article 249of the Constitution, and subject to this section, the mandate of an electedmember of a District Assembly may be revoked by the electorate or the appointingauthority.
(2) For the purpose of revoking themandate of an elected member, twenty-five percent or more of the registeredvoters in the electoral area may petition the Electoral Commission for themember's recall from the Assembly.
(3) On receipt of the petitionreferred to in subsection (2), the Electoral Commission shall organise areferendum to decide the issue whether or not the member must be recalled.
(4) The issue at the referendumshall be decided if at least
(a) fortypercent of the registered voters in the electoral area vote on the issue, and
(b) sixtypercent of the votes cast are in favour of the recall of the member.
