Quota type

The amendments to the Election Code introduced in May 2010, provide for the equal representation of women and men in all candidate lists for legislative, regional, municipal and rural elections (See Law on Modifying the electoral code to institute equal access for men and women to candidacy in legislative, regional, municipal, and rural elections).

In case of non-compliance to this provision, the electoral body notifies the election contestant of their breach and provides for a timeframe in which the changes to the candidate lists need to be introduces so that it qualifies for the registration of the candidate list for the election.
