A political party or voters who nominate more than one candidate for a member of the municipal council in an electoral unit must determine the candidates or candidate lists in such a way that at least 40% of the candidates or places on the candidate list belong to each of the two genders and their candidates or candidates in the first half distribute candidate lists alternately by gender.
The provision of the first paragraph of this article does not apply to candidate lists on which three male or female candidates are placed, and the candidate list on which three male or female candidates are placed must have at least one representative of each gender.
