Of the total number of candidates a party nominates for all the geographical constituencies, one third shall be women. Only 20 percent of the lists for the geographical constituencies that a party nominates can have no women. Of the candidates a party nominates on their national top-up list, one third shall be women (Representation of the People Act, Section 11B [5-7]).
