19. If there is a limit on the amount a donor can contribute to a candidate, what is the limit?

In 2018 the value of 1 basic unit = 24,5 BYN (Belarusian Ruble). Thus, in 2018 an individual may contribute no more than approx. 203 Euro (20 basic units) to a presidential campaign fund, while a legal entity - up to approx. 508 Euro (50 basic units); for the campaign fund of a candidate for the deputy of the House of Representatives - individual persons may contribute no more than approx. 51 Euro (5 basic units) and a legal entity - up to approx. 102 Euro (10 basic units).

"The candidates’ electoral funds may be formed from the following monetary funds:

2) ... The maximum amount of the citizen’s donation shall not exceed 20 base units while holding the elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus; 5 base units while holding the elections of deputies of the House of Representatives, 2 base units while holding the elections of deputies of local Council of Deputies;

3) voluntary donations of legal persons. The maximum amount of the donation of a legal person may not exceed 50 base units while holding the elections of the President of the Republic of Belarus; 10 base units while holding the elections of deputies of the House of Representatives, 5 base units while holding the elections of deputies of local Council of Deputies;"
