34. Are there provisions for free or subsidized access to media for candidates?

The Supreme Justice Court ruled in 2008 that the constitutional mandate on parties financing does not prohibit public financing of campaigns. On this basis, the EMB issued a regulation that provided free media access for the referendum held that year. It is uncertain if free media access will be granted in upcoming elections.
