Article 6, Proposal to promoteindicative referendum petition

(1)Every person whoproposes to promote an indicative referendum petition shall submit the proposalto the Clerk of the House of Representatives.

Article18, Certification of indicative referendum petition

(2)Subject tothe provisions of this Act, an indicative referendum petition shall becertified correct by the Clerk of the House of Representatives if he or she issatisfied, in accordance with section 19, that the petition has, after the date on which thepromoter received the written notice required by section 13(1)(a), been signed by not less than 10% of the eligibleelectors.

Comment

A single person may register apetition question: However, the Clerk will then require that person to obtainthe support of 10% of the electors of New Zealand before the question proceedsto a referendum.
