Article5, Contents of indicative referendum petition

(1)Every indicativereferendum petition—

 (b)shallspecify the question that the petitioners propose be put to the voters in theindicative referendum.

 
Article 5, Proposal to promoteindicative referendum petition

(1)Every person whoproposes to promote an indicative referendum petition shall submit the proposalto the Clerk of the House of Representatives.

(2)The proposal shall beaccompanied by—

(a)a draft of theproposed indicative referendum petition; and

(b)the prescribed fee.

(3)The proposal shallclearly state—

(a)the name of theproposer; and

(b)an address in NewZealand at which the proposer or a representative of the proposer can becontacted; and

(c)where arepresentative of the proposer is the person to be contacted, the name of thatrepresentative.

Comment

The person proposing a petitiontake place must merely ask for a referendum to be held, and specify thequestion with the draft of the proposed referendum petition.
