ELECTION CODE OF THEREPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN

Article 59

59.1. The relevantelection commission shall check the accuracy of the information included in thedocuments mentioned by this Code and the signature sheets of each candidate, aswell whether the information on nomination of candidates is in compliance withthe requirements of this Code. The relevant election commission shall check theaccuracy of personal and other information on the candidates, submitted inaccordance by this Code by the candidates themselves, political parties, a blocof political parties and voters.


59.2. An election commission may apply to therelevant bodies to check the accuracy of information and facts submitted inaccordance with this Code. Those bodies should inform the election commissionson the results of their investigation within the period defined by the electioncommission. If there are less than 50 days remaining before Voting Day, theinformation should be provided at the latest within the period of one-day. Therelevant election commission may decide to create working groups of expertsinvited to check the accuracy of signatures and relevant information. The workinggroups should be chaired by the member of the commission establishing thegroup. Independent experts, specialists from the relevant bodies, andspecialists of bodies and organizations carrying out registration of populationmay be involved in such an investigation and receive a fee set by the CentralElection Commission. Their opinions shall be accepted as the basis forapproving or rejecting the accuracy of the information in the signature sheets.The election commissions may use the voters’ lists and the civil registry tocheck the accuracy of information in the signature sheets.
