Act on Direct Participation of Citizens in Government and Local Government of29 May 2009

Due to art. 44 of the Act on directparticipation of citizens in government and local government of 29 May 2009, there is agenda initiative by whichcitizens can submit proposalsto the National Assembly or the authorities of the central government toaddress issues of national importance. It does not result in ballot voting andundergo an average parliamentary procedure, during which the proposals can bechanged.

The opportunity to introduce the counterproposalto the parliament in case of referendum initiative is not regulated by the law.However, there are no limits concerning initiating the referendum by otherentitled subjects (deputies, President of the Republic, government) even on thesame topic
