Legislation does not specify aprocedure for valid alternative proposals to be put forward.  However, article 55(1) of the CitizensInitiated Referenda Act 1993 allows for two or more indicative referenda to beheld on the same day. Such provision allows for the possibility of analternative proposal to be put to a vote on the same day.

(1)Two or moreindicative referenda may be held on the same day.
