Article 8
1. Parliament shallorder a national referendum upon the motion of at least two hundred thousandelectors. Parliament may order a national referendum upon the motion of thePresident of the Republic, the Government or one hundred thousand electors. Thedecision made by any valid and conclusive referendum shall be binding onParliament.

After having received the notification of the Head of the National ElectionCommission, the next session day the Speaker of the Parliament announces theinitiation. If the number of the valid supports reaches 200 000, theNational Assembly must order the referendum within 30 days. If the number ofthe valid supports is between 100 000 and 200 000, the National Assemblyhas the power to decide on ordering the referendum or not. The resolution ofParliament on ordering the referendum shall be published in the HungarianGazette (Magyar K?zl?ny).
