60. Time forPresentation
-(1) Everyelection petition shall be presented within twenty-one days of the date of publication of the result of the electionin the Gazette:
Provided that-
(a) an election petition questioning the return or the election upon theground of a corrupt practice and specifically alleging a payment of money orother act to have been made or done since that date by the member whoseelection is questioned or by an agent of the member or with the privacy of themember or his election agent in pursuance or in furtherance of such corruptpractice may, so far as respects such corrupt practice, be presented at anytime within twenty-eightdays after the date of such payment or act;
(b) an election petition questioning the return or the election upon anallegation of an illegal practice may be presented at any time within twenty-eight daysafter the date of such payment or other act if the election petitionspecifically alleges a payment of money or other act to have been made or donesince the said day by the member whose election is questioned or by an agent ofthe member or with the privacy of the member or of his election agent inpursuance or in furtherance of the illegal practice alleged in the petition.
(2) An electionpetition presented in due time may, for the purpose of questioning the returnor the election upon an allegation of a corrupt or illegal practice, be amendedwith the leave of a judge of the Supreme Court within the time within which anelection petition questioning the return or the election upon that ground maybe presented.
