Article 20: The Court of Cassation shall be responsible fordetermining the validity of membership in the People’s Assembly.

Any appeals shall bepresented, along with statements and evidence, to the court, within thirty daysof the announcement of the election result.

The court shall decide on the appeal within 90 days from itsreceipt.

Membership [of the People’s Assembly] shall be declared void onthe date the [Court’s’] decision is deposited with the assembly.

Holdinghearing: Law No. 38 of 1972 required that “any appeals shall be presented,along with statements and evidences, to the court”. This does not directly meanthere will be a hearing but the Egyptian Court of Cassation used to define thisarticle as requiring a hearing. This was the case in the past parliamentaryelection.
