First instance body dealing with electoral disputes

Article (8):ThePresidential Elections Commission shall exclusively have the followingcompetences:

1. Declare the initiation of presidential candidacy registration;

……

10. Receive the consolidated election results and determine and

announce the final result;

11. Decide onall complaints and challenges related to elections;

…

Articles (36):

The general committees shall probe all matters related to theballoting process and shall decide on the validity or in-validity of ballotingby voters.

Candidates may contestdecisions made by the general election committee with the PresidentialElections Commission exclusively.

The contest shall be submitted latest during the day following theissuance of the contested decision. The Presidential Elections

Commission shall decide on the contest the next day, after hearingthe contester's statement or after notifying him to appear before it and hisfailure to do so.

The Commission shall set out rules and procedures to be followedin considering and deciding on such contests.

Clarification: All decisions by the Presidential ElectionCommission are final. The complaints in Article 8 are about the complaints regardingelection procedures (for example: voter registry, electoral misconduct, usingreligious places during campaign  ...etc.) before announcing the election results.
