Lawof the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Central Election Committee of the Republicof Uzbekistan, Article 2. (1998-04-30)

Article1. The Central Election Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan

The Central Election Committee ofthe Republic of Uzbekistan (hereinafter referred to as the Central ElectionCommittee) shall be established to organize and conduct the election of thePresident of the Republic of Uzbekistan,deputies to the Oliy Majlis as well as the referendum of the Republic ofUzbekistan and carry out its activity on a permanent basis.
The Central Election Committee shall be guided in its activity by theConstitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the laws on the election andreferendum of the Republic of Uzbekistan and other legislative acts.

Article 5.  Powers of the Central Election Committee

The Central Election Committee shall:

sum up the results of theelection and referendum, define the result of the election in the Republic ofUzbekistan and publish information in the press about the number ofvoters or citizens that have the right to participate in a referendum andparticipants in the poll, the number of votes cast for and against eachcandidate, the number of votes cast for and against the issue ...
consider applications and complaints on the decisions and actions of theelectoral committees and pass resolutions on them;
hand in materials on the violation of the laws on the election and referendumof the Republic of Uzbekistan, that entail criminal amenability, to the Procurator'soffice;

Article12. Appeal of decisions of the Central Election Committee

Decisions of the Central Election Committee may beappealed against at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Thecomplaint shall be considered within 3 days since it was lodged, and in casethere are less than 6 days left before the election or referendum —immediately.

Статья 35. Установлениерезультатов выборов Президента Республики Узбекистан

Центральная избирательнаякомиссия на основании поступивших к ней протоколов окружных избирательныхкомиссий и протоколов участковых избирательных комиссий, образованных припредставительствах Республики Узбекистан в иностранных государствах,определяет: общее число избирателей по республике; число избирателей,получивших избирательные бюллетени и листы; число избирателей, принявшихучастие в голосовании; число голосов, поданных за каждого кандидата; числобюллетеней, признанных недействительными.

Статья 36. Об определении результатов выборов в Президенты РеспубликиУзбекистан

Выборы в целом или по отдельным округам либо по отдельным избирательнымучасткам могут быть признаны недействительными из-за допущенных в ходе выборовили при подсчете голосов нарушений, повлиявших на итоги голосования. Решение опризнании выборов недействительными принимается Центральной избирательнойкомиссией и может быть обжаловано в Верховный суд Республики Узбекистан втечение десяти дней со дня опубликования итогов голосования. Право обжалованиярешения о признании выборов недействительными принадлежит кандидатам вПрезиденты Республики Узбекистан.

В случае признания выборов поотдельным округам или участкам недействительными по решению Центральнойизбирательной комиссии результаты голосования по таким округам, участкамисключаются из общих результатов выборов при условии, что без них выборы вцелом могут быть признаны состоявшимися.

Сообщение об итогах выборов Президента Республики Узбекистан публикуетсяв печати Центральной избирательной комиссией не позднее чем в десятидневныйсрок после выборов.
