Contrary the legislation regarding parliamentary and senatorial elections, the Decree that rules on Presidential elections (Decret 2001-213) sheds no additional light on how the registered electoral disputes should be processed. However, we did found that the report developed by the Constitutional Council about the 2012 French Presidential elections (Observations sur l’élection présidentielle des 22 avril et 6 Mai 2012) used the general electoral Law (Code Electoral) when referring to all electoral disputes. As such, the questionnaire was filled according to such references. Nevertheless, in the case of the presidential election, as far as our research uncovered, there was no specific codification regarding the possibility of annulling the election altogether as a result of any particular complaint. That possibility exists, indirectly, if any given candidate is declared ineligible or fails to fulfil the regulations regarding electoral financing campaigning.
