Offences by election officers

71. Every election officer who—

(a) makes, inany record, return or other document that he is required to keep or make underthis Act, any entry which he knows or has reasonable cause to believe to befalse, or does not believe to be true;

(b) permits any person whom he knowsor has reasonable cause to believe not to be a blind person, an illiterateperson or an incapacitated person to vote in the manner provided forblind persons, illiterate persons or incapacitated persons, as the case may be;

(c) refuses topermit any person whom he knows or has reasonable cause to believe to be ablind person, an illiterate person or an incapacitated person to vote in themanner provided for blind persons, illiterate persons or incapicitated persons,as the case may be;

Personation

76. Every person who at an election—

(a) applies fora ballot paper in the name of another person, whether that name be the name ofa person living or dead or of a fictitious person; or

(b) havingvoted once at any election, applies at the same election for a ballot paper inhis own name;

is guilty ofpersonation within the meaning of this Act.

Penalty for personation

78. Every person who isguilty of personation, or of aiding, abetting, counselling or procuring thecommission of the offence of personation,is liable, on conviction, to imprisonment for 2 years.
