Voter registration

12.

(1) A person shall bequalified to be registered as a voter if such a person:

(2) No person shall registerin more than one registration centre or register more than once in the sameregistration centre.

(3) Any person who contravenesthe provisions of subsection (2) of this section commits an offence and isliable on conviction to a fine not exceeding N100,000 or imprisonment for aterm not exceeding one year or both.

117.

(1) Any person who:

(a) without authority,destroys, mutilates, defaces or removes or makes any alteration in any noticeor document required for the purpose of registration under this Act;

(b) knowingly gives falseinformation or makes a false statement with reference to any application forregistration of his name or with reference to any objection to the retention ofthe name of a person in the register of voters;

(c) presents himself to be ordoes any act whereby he is by whatever name or description howsoever, includedin the register of voters for a constituency in which he is not entitled to beregistered or causes himself to be registered in more than one registration orrevision centre;

(d) publishes any statement orreport which he knows to be false or does not believe to be true so as toprevent persons who are qualified to register from registering as voters;

(e) makes in any record,register or document which he is required to prepare, publish or keep for thepurpose of registration, any entry or statement which he knows to be false ordoes not believe to be true;

(f) impedes or obstructs aregistration officer or a revision officer in the performance of his duties;

(g) without proper authority,wears the identification of a registration officer or assistant registrationofficer or wears any other identification purporting to be the identificationof a registration officer or assistant registration officer;

(h) forges a registrationcard; or

(i) carries out registrationor revision of voters at a centre or place not designated by the Commission;commits an offence and liable on conviction to a maximum fine of N1,000,000 or to12 months imprisonment or to both.
