(1) Every person whowilfully gives false or misleading information to the Supervisor, a returningofficer, or any other electoral officer, whether under oath or in writing ororally, for the purpose of the compilation of the roll or to affect theeligibility of any
person to vote, is guiltyof the offence of giving false information and is liable to a fine not exceeding$1000 or to imprisonment for any period not exceeding 1 year or to both suchfine and imprisonment.
(2) It is the duty of theSupervisor to report the occurrence of any possible offence under this sectionto the Attorney- General who, if he is satisfied that there are reasonablegrounds, shall prosecute the alleged offender.
