The central electoral register takes over data from Records of citizens' personal data and addresses. In cases of persons not enlisted in such register, it is based on data derived from the Register of the documents on Hungarian citizenship. Furthermore it is based on the Register of disenfranchised citizens of voting age, and on the Registers on polling districts and constituencies and polling districts electoral registers.

The data in the central electoral register is continuously updated with the changes in the data in the following databases: the records of citizens' personal data and addresses; the register of disfranchised citizens; and the register on polling districts and constituencies.
