 Section 9 of the Electoral Code provides that: “Elections Cameroon shall be under the authority of the Electoral Board. The Electoral Board shall ensure the smooth functioning of Elections Cameroon”. The Director General of the National electoral board is mandated by electoral law section 26 (1) to manage, update and keep the national voters register.

The Electoral Board annually updates electoral registers section 74 of the electoral law provides that “Electoral registers shall be permanent. They shall be revised every year throughout the national territory. The annual revision of the electoral registers shall commence on 1 January and end on 31 August of every year.
