Voter registration in Botswana is continuous. During this general registration period, the IEC makes available at all its registration centres copies of the existing voters’ roll for inspection by members of the public (section 7). The Act also provides for the supplementary registration of voters as and when the IEC secretary deems necessary.

The first registration exercise took place in late 1998, and subsequently supplementary registration was held from mid April 1999.
