The procedure is as follows: district offices send the 20-pages registration books to the headquarters, where they are digitized. Upon the digitization, the system verifies the validity of the data against the National Police database. The next step is to verify the digitized information against a list and let it go through a quality-control process. Once the registration period (every December) is concluded, the data of the deceased, double registrations, militaries and police officers in active duty (“bajo bandera”), the interdicted, etc., is removed. Finally, the electoral rolls for every polling table are put together, in alphabetical order, with the information of around 200 voters. This is all done using information software on an ORACLE database and using IBM System X 3400 servers, with 45 250 GB discs and 4 GB of RAM.
