Even though the EMB itself does not gather this information, it must be obtained by the national civil registry. The National Register of the Persons, which depends from the Minister of the Interior and the Nation’s Transportation, when the citizens go through the procedures for obtaining their national identification document (DNI), biometrical data from the person is recorded (fingerprints, photo and signature) and such data is sent to the EMB, although it is not used to identify the voter at the polling table.
