Afghanistan government continues to see delays forbiometric identification card

Theintroduction of biometric identification cards could prevent voter fraud inAfghanistan’s elections and ultimately make it a more fair electoral process,said speakers at a series of Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR)organized debates held in the country.
The governmentfirst announced plans in 2009 to implement the biometric identification cards,which would store the voter’s fingerprints, digital photos, personal and familystatus, and place of residence.
The introduction of biometricidentification cards have been discussed, but it has not been used so far.
