Is the biometric data used in voter identification at polling stations?

Law No. 5 of 2014 on General Elections (unofficial translation)

Article 28. (1) The general electoral register for the Syrian Arab Republic is prepared by the Ministry of the Interior in coordination with the Ministries of Justice, Local Administration and the Central Bureau of Statistics.

(2) The general electoral register shall include the following data for each voter:

- Full name

- Parent’s name

- Gender

- Place and date of birth

- Permanent residence

- ID number

- Number and place of civil registration. [...]

Since biometrics are not recorded during voter registration, we assume they are not used during voter identification at the polling station.
