Is technology used for identifying voters at polling stations (electronic poll books)?
Lebanon
Technology has not been used in identifying voters at polling stations. In previous election, however, Ministry of Interior and Municipalities (MOIM) presented digital fingerprint scanners in many locations to facilitate issuing voter ID for those who did not have a voters card and were eligible to vote. Please see NDI report page number 18. The use of finger print scanners came as voluntary initiative from MoIM to accelerate the issuing of voters cards for those who missed the registration period and showed up on Election Day willing to cast their vote. There was no prior plan or allocated budget to such initiatives.
