Is technology used for identifying voters at polling stations (electronic poll books)?

A direct online link to the central voting register is used in case of voting outside the polling station of the voter’s residence. This is a complementary system in addition to paper lists in the polling station in order to guarantee the most correct data on the outside voters’ election materials (outer envelopes are printed on spot in the polling station with the voter’s data on it).

However, by 2017 a pilot project to replace paper voters’ lists in polling stations with an online system is planned.
