“(1) In order to facilitate the casting and counting of votes, voting machines equipped with independent registers may be used instead of ballot papers, envelopes and ballot boxes.”

Germany used e-voting until 2005. Although the Federal Electoral Law (last amended in 2013) allows e-voting (see sources), since a Constitutional Court ruling in 2009, e-voting is practically abandoned.
