The Election Results System (ERS) was first developed for the 1993 election. The ERS application’s primary purpose is to collect unofficial polling night results and transmit them electronically from each of the 308 electoral districts to the media and Elections Canada (EC). EC also uses the application to gather, merge and verify voting results from the Special Voting Rules (SVR) groups (ex: overseas electors, incarcerated electors, etc.).
