What are the key reasons for or against using open source systems?

Pros: The voting machine source codes must (by law) be open to be audited by parties, public prosecutors, and bar associations. Every two years, the voting machines are submitted to public security tests, where the participants write attack plans to be executed and the results reported to the event board. Cons: The update and upgrade policy is not always stable.
