According to Chapter 3 (Article 19) of the 2008 Electoral Law, EMB is charged with the following tasks and prerogatives:
- Supervise private printed and audiovisual media that wish to participate in paid electoral advertising pursuant to the provisions of Electoral Law No. 25/2008;
- Supervise the compliance of lists, candidates, and mass media with the rules and regulations governing the electoral competition pursuant to the provisions of this law;
- Supervise electoral spending pursuant to the provisions of Electoral Law No. 25/2008;
- Receive and audit the financial statements of the electoral campaigns of lists and candidates within one month of election day;
The law does not oblige the election EMB to publish candidate financial reports. Also there is no information on these reports on the Lebanese EMB website.
