Although the 2017 amendments to the Organic Law on Elections and Referendums cover municipal and regional elections, the application of external voting was not observed during 2018 Municipal Elections. Data was updated in 2019.

Organic law n° 2017-7 dated 14 February 2017, amending and completing organic law n° 2014-16 dated 26 May 2014 relating to the elections and referendums.
First article (new) - The law herein has for object to fix the organization of the presidential, legislative, municipal and regional elections and referendums.
Article 103. Notwithstanding the provisions relating to the determination of the date of elections, provided in article 102, the operation of vote of Tunisians Abroad for elections and referendums, takes place during three consecutive days, the latest being the day of the poll in the territory of the Republic.
