Voters who reside abroad have to travel to San Marino in order to cast their vote in person. The only change in external voting regulations was the amendment made to the Electoral Law in 2016 re-introducing the right of voters from abroad to cast a preferential vote. Before this amendment, voters could only vote for a candidate list and not for their preferred candidates. Data has been updated in December 2019.
