The Constitution of 2012 provides for universal suffrage, direct elections of the members of the two chambers of parliament. However, specific laws on elections as foreseen by the Provisional Constitution (art. 47) have not been developed yet. Data has been updated in January 2022.

Article 47. The regulations concerning political parties, their registration, elections at the Federal Government level and the National Independent Electoral Commission shall be defined in special laws enacted by the House of the People of the Federal Parliament.
