The initial legal basis for proxy voting appeared in Electoral Act 1965, however the Electoral (Proxy Voting) Regulations was enacted in 2004. Therefore we put the starting year as 2004. It should be noted also that proxy voting was extended to referendums only in 2010 by Referendum Procedures (Proxy Voting) Regulations 2010. Data was updated in August 2022.
