Comment

The first-past-the-post system used was carried over from Kenya’s colonial days and involved the division of the country into constituencies of roughly equal population size responsible for the election of a single member of parliament required with a simple majority of votes.

Additionally, there are 12 reserved spots for special interest groups. These seats are nominated proportionally by a party list system. These seats give underrepresented groups such as the disabled and the youth in the political system.  However, allocation of these seats have been historically inconsistent and disproportionate.
