47. (1) In a contested election, when the result of the poll has been ascertained, the returning officer shall forthwith-

(a) declare to be elected the candidate or candidates to whom the majority of votes has been given; [...]

 

11. (1) For the purposes of an election, the Island shall be divided into the 15 constituencies specified in the following table, and each constituency shall return and be represented by the number of members specified in relation thereto in column 2 of that table-
