Article 78
Composition of National Assembly

78. The National Assembly shall consist of –

  1. Such numbers of members directly elected in accordance with -
    (i) this Constitution; and
    (ii) subject to this Constitution, an Act, as in equal to the number of electoral areas;  
  2. Such number of members elected on the basis of the scheme of proportional representation specified in Schedule 4 as is equal to one-half of the number of directly elected members or, where one-half of the number of directly elected members results in a whole number and a fraction, as is equal to the whole number immediately following the result.
Comment

This was the first national election conducted under the parallel electoral system following the 1993 Constitutional Amendment. Previously, Seychelles was a one-party state. Members of the National Assembly are elected single member districts by plurality vote. Additional seats are distributed at the national level.

The Hare quota is used for the distribution of seats.
