Article 86

1. ThePresident shall be elected through a direct vote by the people.

2. Thecandidate who obtains the absolute majority of votes shall be electedPresident. If none of the candidates obtains this absolute majority, the twocandidates with the highest number of votes shall stand for election within twoweeks.

3. TheSpeaker of the House shall announce the results of the elections.

The first Presidential Elections under new Constitution were held in 2014. Previous ‘presidential elections’ in 1991, 1999, 2000 and 2007 sought approval of one candidate: no others allowed.
