Palau Voting Rights Act (1981)

Article 1701
Primarily Election

A primarily election for the offices of President and Vice President of the Republic shall be held on the fourth Tuesday of September prior to the general election in every year in which a general election is to be held. The two candidates for each office receiving the largest share of votes in the primarily election shall be placed upon the ballot for the general election.

Comment

Since 1992, presidential elections have been held under the two round runoff system, with the two candidates receiving the most votes progressing to the second round.
