Comment

Prior to 1992, the number of member directly elected was 99. However, following the Electoral Law of 1992, this was amended, where 128 members are allocated across 14 electoral districts – leading to 64 Christian members and 64 Muslim members to be elected by a majority system in five muhafazat. Under the terms of this agreement, the consociational formula in Lebanon is reinforced.
