(1)The National Assembly is composed of fifty members elected directly byuniversal suffrage and secret ballot in accordance with the provisionsprescribed by the electoral law.
Article 56 [Prime Minister]:
The Amir, after the traditionalconsultations, appoints the Prime Minister and relieves him of office. The Amiralso appoints Ministers and relieves them of office upon the recommendation ofthe Prime Minister.
1. Ministers areappointed from amongst the members of the National Assembly and from others.
2. The number ofMinisters in all shall not exceed one-third of the number of the members of theNational Assembly.

The 1962 Constitution limits the size ofthe cabinet to one-third that of the elected MPs and therefore the highestpossible number of ministers is 16, including the Prime Minister. The 1962Constitution requires that at least one member of cabinet be an elected MP.
