There is no general definition of conflicts of interest. However, a Code of Conduct for the Althingi was adopted on 16 March 2016; its elaboration process involved both parliamentarians themselves, as well as civil society at large since the document was made available for public consultation and comments. The Code contains specific rules on its monitoring, enforcement and advisory channels. It is possible for individuals and legal persons to submit in their own name written and reasoned communications regarding alleged violations of the Code of Conduct.
