68. Are elected officials required to submit reports regarding their finances?

Article 1.1 'Term and content The holders of political and similar positions and holders of senior public positions shall present to the Constitutional Court, within 60 days from the date of the beginning of the exercise of their respective functions, a declaration of their income, as well as its assets and social functions, which shall include: a) The total indication of the gross income shown in the last declaration filed for the purposes of liquidation of the income tax of the natural persons, or that, when dispensed, should be recorded; b) A description of the elements of its assets, existing in Brazil or abroad, ordered by major headings, such as real estate assets, quotas, shares or other capital shares of civil or commercial companies, rights in ships, aircraft or motor vehicles, as well as securities portfolios, term bank accounts, equivalent financial investments and provided that they exceed 50 minimum salaries, bank accounts on demand and credit rights; c) A description of its liabilities, namely in relation to the State, credit institutions and any companies, public or private, in Brazil or abroad; d) The mention of positions held or exercised in the two years preceding the declaration, in the country or abroad, in companies, foundations or associations of public law and, if they are remunerated, in foundations or associations under private law.'
