On 30 November 2024, Iceland  held snap parliamentary election after the Prime Minister dissolved parliament on 13 October 2024 (Reuters 2024). Members of Iceland’s unicameral parliament are elected using a multi-seat constituency system of proportional representation. Any political party must have at least 5 per cent of the vote to gain a seat in parliament.

On 1 June 2024, Iceland held presidential elections won by Halla Tomasdottir. A parliamentary republic, Iceland’s presidential elections take place every four years; there is no limit on on the number of four-year terms a president may serve.
